Cooper the STEM Robot is a rechargeable, screen-free coding companion that helps children explore sequencing, logic and problem-solving through direct push-button programming. Young coders enter a route with four directional controls and press Go to watch their sequence come to life.

Designed for children aged five and over, Cooper combines an approachable character design with sensors, light and object awareness, sounds and movement. The included coding cards help children plan instructions away from a screen, while the challenge material gives adults a structured starting point. Cooper can also communicate with other Cooper robots, sold separately, opening up collaborative challenges for classrooms and coding clubs.

Why Choose the Cooper the STEM Robot?

Cooper makes an abstract idea visible. A child chooses a sequence, runs it and immediately sees whether the robot follows the intended route. If it does not, the child can inspect the instructions, change one step and test again. This practical plan-test-adjust cycle is at the heart of early coding and makes debugging understandable without specialist vocabulary.

How the Cooper the STEM Robot Supports Learning Through Play

Programming directional moves helps children connect symbols and spoken instructions with movement in physical space. They practise left, right, forward and backward while building an understanding that the order of instructions affects the result.

The sensor-led interactive features encourage observation and prediction. Children can investigate how Cooper reacts to light or nearby objects and describe the relationship between an input and the robot's response.

With two or more Cooper robots, children can divide responsibilities, compare programs and work towards a shared solution. Collaborative coding asks them to explain their reasoning clearly and listen to alternative ideas.

Designed for Purposeful, Repeat Play

Cooper includes guided challenges but is not restricted to them. Adults can create routes with classroom objects, ask children to estimate the number of moves required or invite learners to design a challenge for a partner.

Rather than limiting children to one fixed outcome, the Cooper the STEM Robot can be returned to in different ways as confidence develops. Adults can begin by modelling the basic activity and naming what is happening, then gradually invite children to make choices, explain their thinking, predict what may happen next or create their own variation. This makes the resource useful for supported adult-led learning as well as independent exploration.
